Who We Are:
The Community Improvement Organization Inc. (CIO), is a nonprofit organization Miami-Dade, Florida. Our mission is to revitalize distressed communities by improving the living conditions of underprivileged children, the elderly, people with special needs, and low-income families; as well as to further and strengthen the education of college/university and K-12 students through hands-on service learning and civic engagement.
What We Do:
CIO has provided services to nearly 20,000 members of our local community of which include: providing basic needs such food, clothing, home repairs, several park beautification, and strengthen the education of college/university and K-12 students through hands-on service learning and civic engagement.
The Community Improvement Organization Inc. (CIO), was established on July 11, 2008 as a 501(3) nonprofit organization with a public charity status, in Miami, Our approach has led to the successful recruitment of nearly 2,000 volunteers from partner institutions which include the city of Hialeah Gardens, the Miami Dolphins, and Miami Dade College. The support of our volunteers helped to implement 3 programs and complete nearly 30 different projects saving the community an estimated $450,000 to the CIO achievements have also attracted the attention of significant partners and sponsors. In 2012, the organization received a Congressional Recognition Certificate, to complete this award, Miami Dade College named CIO as the Service Learning Partner of the Year for 2012 and 2013.
